Over 90 percent of the 12 million eyeglasses sold in Turkey are imported. Half of these glasses sold in Turkey are sunglasses, an overwhelming amount of which is imported from China, according to the Anatolia news agency. ;We have no recourse against the stiff competition from China,; Mehmet Dibi, president of the Eyeglass Manufacturers Union, says. Dibi believes that the cheap and low-quality glasses imported from China constitute unfair competition.
